Mediapapa Feature
Pre-publish checks are media quality alerts that appear in the Gutenberg editor sidebar before a post goes live. Mediapapa scans the images in the current post and flags issues — missing alt text, unoptimised files, files not yet indexed — so you can fix them before publishing.
What pre-publish checks catch
Missing alt text on any image in the post content. This is the most common issue flagged — it affects both accessibility and SEO and is easy to miss when working quickly.
Unoptimised images: files that are oversized or in an inefficient format (JPEG where WebP would be smaller). The alert shows which specific files are affected.
Files not yet indexed: if an image was just uploaded and the usage index has not yet scanned it, Mediapapa flags it to ensure the file is included in the next governance pass.
Where pre-publish checks appear
Pre-publish checks appear in the Gutenberg editor’s pre-publish panel — the panel that shows when you click Publish or Update. They are non-blocking warnings, not hard stops. You can publish with warnings present. The goal is to make it easy to catch issues at the moment of publication rather than discovering them in a later audit.
