The plugin is now available for free on WordPress.org, alongside the Pro plans for teams who need bulk operations, unlimited compression and more advanced features and tools.
How we got here
The plugin has been soft launched on WordPress.org on the 5 March. During the month, we addressed different topics to make the Free version ready before pushing it in front of more people. A full onboarding wizard on activatio was deployed last week with a few UI enhancements.
We are at around 300 downloads, help us spread the word!
Translation is now open on translate.wordpress.org. If you manage WordPress sites in a language other than English, you can contribute directly. The more languages Mediapapa speaks, the more useful it becomes for the community.
What is in the free version
The free plan is not a trial. It includes the full experience: every tool you need to understand what is in your media library, how it is used and act on it.
- Library Health gives you an overall score and a dashboard of recommended actions.
- Media Score rates each file individually based on its metadata, compression and format.
- The usage index scans the entire site and shows exactly where each file appears (posts, pages, Gutenberg blocks, Elementor, ACF, custom post types).
- Deletion Warnings catch every file still in use before you remove it.
The free plan also includes unused media detection, duplicate detection, an anti-duplication check on upload, improved metadata editing for alt text and captions, pre-publish health checks in Gutenberg, and tag management with filtering.
AI-assisted metadata generation is available on the free plan with a separate credit pack. No Pro subscription required.

Pro unlocks bulk operations — Safe Replace, bulk deletion of unused files, bulk duplicate removal, unlimited compression and AVIF conversion with no monthly cap, bulk AI metadata generation, auto-compression on import, and scheduled cleaning. WP-CLI and WordPress Multisite are also included.
